DIY: Heart Crayons for Valentine's Day
Hey mama, Valentine's Day is around the corner (Yes girl, you are late!) and if you have 2 or more kids you know that treats for the entire classroom can get very expensive.
Are you looking for cute, fast and inexpensive ideas? This is how I spend my Sunday morning with the boys, melting old, cheap crayons!
...And you can do the same.
First, collect all of those broken crayons that you have around...
We all know you have a lot!
Someone once said: "Broken crayons can still paint"
Soak them in water for a couple of minutes. (For best results, soak them for at least 1 hour)
The paper will come out right off!!!
Call the kids, they love this part.
Remove all the paper from the crayons.
Now, tell them to cut them in pieces. My 3 year old son loves this part.
I wonder why?
Crayons should look like this....
Now get a heart shaped silicone mold (make sure you can use it in the oven- got mine at Amazon)
Insert the crayons ... Duh!
It should look like this....
Bake at 350 degrees for 10- 15 minutes. Watch them melt! (Kids love this part too)
After melting, freeze them for a few minutes.
I will glue them (with a tiny dot of hot glue) to a cardboard with the message "I (heart) You"
Total cost for these treats for 40 kids ($2) (not incluiding the mold that already had)
Please share with other desperate mommas!
